Hi all,
The interminably long Cricket World Cup is finally over and thoughts are turning to the English Summer of Cricket. In advance of the season, there are a couple of notices to get through so let’s get straight to it…
Surrey CCC Roadshow @ Streatham & Marlborough CC – Wednesday 15 April
Surrey are following up successful events at Reigate Priory CC and Guildford CC with an inner London venue and we’ve been lucky enough to be chosen to host! The event is free of charge (though requires the booking of a ticket) to watch the newly produced short film ‘My Surrey’ and to attend a Q&A session with Chief Executive Richard Gould, Director of Cricket Development Paul Taylor and Surrey legend, now Second XI coach, Alistair Brown. More details and the simple booking procedure are on the following link. Open to anyone so feel free to forward to friends and family.

Thanks to all who volunteered their time last weekend to help get the club ready for the season. We were able to finish most jobs but there are still a couple of projects to complete. They involve painting (both indoor and out) as well as some burning of debris. If you are available between 12-4pm this Saturday and Sunday – please could you lend a hand to help finish off these projects.
Plea for skills
Does anyone have the following skills / contacts:
- The club require the use of a mini-digger to do some landscaping on the ground. Does anyone have an contacts?
- The club is currently going through a rent review and would like to canvass our membership for anyone who can help with regard to a valuation survey. Does anyone work in the industry and be willing/able to provide advice??
Inter-club friendly fixtures
To all playing members. We have arranged two inter-club friendlies on the weekend of April 11th and 18th (weather permitting). These games are important and provide the captains with an idea of potential teams for the new season so your attendance will be a great help for the season ahead. If you are available, please can you let the Chair of Cricket (Raj Patel) know on rajnaldo@aol.com, 07983 452 211 or via the club Facebook page.
Quiz night – last Saturday
A cracking quiz took place on Saturday and raised £680 in quiz fees and over £1,000 was spent at the bar – not a bad start to the season!! Well done to all who organised and thanks to all who attended making it a great evening.
If you missed it, I’ll leave you with this teaser: There are nine tube stations in London beginning with the letter ‘A’ – name them…
Membership
A month to go to secure the discounted prices for membership. As ever, we can be flexible if you are under financial pressure – but only if you are pro-active and approach the membership secretary – Mark Bartolo (bart1870@talktalk.net). Remember, the following was agreed at the AGM.
Streatham & Marlborough are committed to providing cricket for all. Non / low income members requiring assistance should contact your captain or Mark Bartolo.
