Membership, Quiz, Pavilion Launch, CricketForce, SITA Trust Funding, Nets, Kit

Dear all,

This message contains details on the date for the new pavilion launch, how to pay your membership, the upcoming quiz night, the NatWest CricketForce event, a successful funding application, nets and how to get some new club kit. Let’s kick off with the Pavilion.

New Pavilion Launch Party – Saturday 26th April
This is a critical juncture in the clubs history which we need all members to buy into so please save the date and start inviting your contacts. Also, if you have a particularly good relationship with a local business / restaurant please start working on them! More information will follow.

If you know you are going to be playing a full season and you are able to pay your membership fee now, we’ll be happy to take payment! Quiz night – Friday 28th March
Always a popular night. We hope you’ll encourage family and friends to come along too, so much so that we are saying if you bring four non-members along, your ticket will be free! So far, we have 20 people signed up, we need to triple that number so get working on your contacts!

Cash prize for the winning team.

Please e-mail Natalie Hill (natalie.hill@falconpw.com) to confirm your attendance so we know how many to cater for.

NatWest CricketForce – 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th April
As in previous years, we are asking for club members to get involved in preparing the club for the coming season and we have secured £400 worth of funding from Jewson builders to help with this. Over the winter, sights screens have been irreparably damaged in the storms and the roof of the pavilion is also not in a good way. This is an immensely important couple of weekends for us, it helps us make the place more presentable for functions which, in turn, helps us keep your fees down. A few hours help over the weekend will vastly improve your experience over the summer.

5s skipper, Laurie Johnston, is also planning a similar workforce to assist at the Mayow Park ground on 29th March and 5th April. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone wants to assist with helping to organise the event – please contact me. It often falls to the Executive Committee to find time to organise when they already have posts which take up a lot of time.

SITA Trust funding for new sightscreens
Ladies Club Captain, Dagmara, has done some fantastic work in securing £15k worth of funding from the SITA Trust to buy eight new sightscreens. We will be looking at the top of the range screens which will hopefully mean no more painting! Each pitch will then have two at either end. Thanks, Dag!

Nets
There are four more indoor net sessions (Sunday 11am till 1pm) at DCPS for this year before CricketForce and the first friendly fixtures. As soon as the ground is dry enough for us to get outside, we’ll start running practice sessions at the home ground. I’ll keep you posted.

Kit
Adidas have updated our range of team wear for 2014. For those of you who wouldn’t be seen dead in last year’s gear, see the link below: http://www.allroundercricket.com/teamwear/cricket-teamwear/streatham-and-marlborough-cc

That’s it from me…
Thanks,
Dan
