We are very pleased to welcome you to Streatham & Marlborough Cricket Club.
To give you some history on the club, Streatham & Marlborough Cricket Club was formed on the 1st February 2003 after the merger of two long established local clubs, Streatham CC (1805) and Marlborough (1870) CC. WG Grace played at Streatham in 1902 so you are in good company! More recent alumni includes the 4th most expensive cricketer in the 2009 IPL, South African international, Tyron Henderson.
Based on the corner of Lordship Lane and Dulwich Common in East Dulwich, we are a Focus Club for Surrey and were awarded Clubmark in October 2009 (reaccredited in November 2012). We have two squares on the same site and our 1st X1 pitch was voted the best in the league for 2010.
“pitches at SMCC were rated by the umpires over the course of the season as the best in their division based on consistancy, bounce, seam movement & spin” Chris Bullen, Cricket Development Manager, East Surrey & Outer London
We are actively looking for more members to represent all XI’s. We currently offer the following:
- 6 Saturday league sides
- 1 Saturday friendly side
- 2 Sunday friendly sides
- 1 Sunday Development league side
- 1 Ladies side
- Colts teams for age groups 6-16 years.
- 1 Midweek side
In the 1st X1, our players compete against county and former international players in the Surrey Championship, at the lower levels, we play for fun.
If you do not fancy the cut and thrust of league cricket, you may be more suited to a relaxing game on a Sunday, we run a couple of teams on Sunday and a midweek team mixing abilities and ages.
As a stepping stone between colts cricket and senior cricket, we have a Sunday Development X1 which plays in a the Surrey Trust League with a orange ball and coloured clothing.
Our Ladies section is a few years old and thriving. Winter Training runs from October through till March and summer training is on a Tuesday evening at the club – please contact Karen Klomp for more information – kklomp@gmail.com.
We also run Colts teams for years 6-16 and work with local schools through the Chance 2 Shine programme, allowing us to provide coaching in local schools. All S&MCC coaches are CRB-checked and ECB Qualified. Winter (indoor) training runs from November through till March and Summer (outdoor) training will run from April through till August. Contact Sally Keith (sallykeith@dsl.pipex.com) for more information.
From January, we hold approximately 10 indoor net sessions in the Dulwich area – please see the website in December for more information on venue, dates and times. In the summer, senior nets are on a Thursday night at the club from 6.30pm onwards throughout the season.
