Junior cricket at SMCC

At SMCC we have a thriving and expanding junior cricket section, with cricket for boys and girls from school year Reception right up to teenagers playing in senior cricket.

In 2022 we grew by 10% to 344 junior players in the summer term, including 94 girls. We ran 9 boys/mixed teams and 4 girls’ teams and played 268 matches in all.

Based on figures shared by Surrey Cricket Foundation for the 2022 season, the average club in Surrey had 127 junior players and played 45 junior matches. We were 2.7 times larger, but played a 6 times the number of matches.

In 2023, we expect our girls’ section to continue its annual growth of around 25%, so will run 5 dedicated girls’ teams.

We will also run an Under 19s team for the first time, in addition to our Under 17s and Development XI.

With our coaching partners, 360 Cricket, we now run holiday camps at Easter, the summer half-term and for 5 weeks over the summer holidays, and through the autumn and spring terms, we run indoor cricket for 150+ players.

We welcome players with any level of experience. We just ask that players are full of enthusiasm for the game of cricket.

For full details of all of the above and to how contact our junior section, please see the SMCC Juniors website.
